Effective learning needs periodic assessment. To reduce the trauma of examinations we have worked towards an overall evaluation process. Projects, daily class work, informal tests, quiz sessions; and participation in all co-curricular activities will form the basis of our assessment pattern.
From the session in 2006 we have stopped terminal exams and Unit tests up to Std 5. These have been replaced by weekly assessment tests. We believe that tests are an invaluable tool for feedback to the students (and their parents) as well as the teacher. But there is no reason to make it into a traumatic experience for the young ones. There is more than enough time in later years to learn to handle exams and their associated stresses when children are more mature and physically and mentally stronger.
