Admissions to Vidya Valley

Academic Year 2009-10

Preamble

The entry points to Vidya Valley are Jr.KG and Std 1. All other classes (intermediate classes) do not have a fixed quota for admission. They will depend on vacancies created due to transfers.

However, this year we are increasing the number of sections in each grade by one. Therefore, Grade 1 to Grade 3 will have four sections. Grade 4 to Grade 10 will have three sections each.

However, we will admit only a limited number of children in each grade so that we can maintain the quality of our teaching.

Vacancies available for admission for the next academic year 2009-10

  1. There are NO admissions available for Jr. KG, or Std. 1. We completed admissions in January 2009 after adequate notification on our website. We will not be responding to any more e-mails for admissions to these classes.

  2. There are NO admissions available for Sr.KG. This is NOT an entry point for our school.

  3. There are a few seats for all classes from Std 2 to 9.

Procedure for Admissions for Std 2 to Std 9:

  1. Admission forms will be available at school from 23rd March onwards. Completed forms should be returned to us by 11th April. Cost of Form is Rs 700.

  2. Admission form includes a Questionnaire for parents. It is an important part of our evaluation.

  3. We will conduct an admission test on Sat., 18th April. The test will start at 9:00 a.m.

  4. All children will be tested in Math / Arithmetic and English (Comprehension and Creative writing). The syllabus for math will be that of the previous class. (If you are applying for admission to Std 4 then the child will be tested for Math as per Std 3 syllabus).

  5. Do not write to us for syllabus - use any appropriate text book available from the market.

  6. Indian children applying for Std 5 and above will also be tested in Hindi.

  7. Children with a foreign passport will not be tested in Hindi.

In case your child has a specific issue on any of the above, please attach a brief note to the application form describing the problem and stating your request. We will e-mail our response to you.

Note for Admissions for Std 8 and Std 9:

In Std 8 & 9 we have two sections preparing for ICSE Exam and one section for NIOS exam. (Check the respective websites of the boards for information).

  1. Students may apply for either of the two boards.

  2. Student applying for ICSE board: Preference will be given to student from an ICSE affiliated school. We will consider children from CBSE also provided their track record is very good and their performance in the tests (especially English) is excellent.

  3. Students applying for NIOS Board: Students from any board may apply.

Procedure for students who live abroad (and cannot be present for the Admission Test):

  1. Please send us a brief e-mail telling us about your stay abroad and plans for returning to India. We will mail you back the Application Form, Prospectus and Questionnaire and instructions.

  2. The student will need to take the admission test. However, we will e-mail the test paper to Principal / Concerned Teacher at your child’s school at the school’s e-mail address (and not a public service like gmail or yahoo). In order to do that we will need to receive a confirmatory e-mail from the teacher that she/he will administer the test as required during the week 13th to 17th April. This e-mail should be sent to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

  3. The answer paper must be sealed by the school and handed over to you for sending back to India, along with the application form, questionnaire and other documents as specified in the prospectus.

  4. All documents must be deposited at the school through a friend or relative, along with the application fee. Do not send any documents to us by e-mail because it will clog our e-mail. We cannot accept responsibility for lost documents. Nor do we advise you to send directly by courier for the same reason.

Finalisation of Admission:

We expect to finalise the admission list by 24th of April. The list will be posted on our website. This is a provisional admission.

No admission is final till we receive the latest report card and Transfer Certificate.

Parents are expected to complete the admission procedure by Tuesday, 28th April. After that date we may offer the seat to the next student in the waiting list.

School Office Working Days and Holidays:

School office will work on weekdays till evening of 30th April.

Office will be on vacation from Friday 1st May to Monday 18th May.

School reopens for Teachers on 1st June and for students from 8th June onwards.

F A Q

What if I cannot appear for the test on 18th April?

A second Test will depend upon vacancies. If at all, it may be held in June.

If I live outside Pune in some distant city, can I get the application form by e-mail?

Yes. Write to us and we will e-mail it. However, we will not accept any applications by e-mail. You have to send it through a friend or relative who will submit it to the school along with the application fee.

However, we advice you to visit the school before your child appears for the test.

If I live outside Pune in some distant city, can I write the test at my school?

We expect you to do that in Vidya Valley in Pune.

What will be the criterion for acceptance?

  1. Age: Our age for admission at Std 1 is 6 years to 7 years (as on June 1, 2009).

(Quick Check: Add 5 years Plus the Class to which admission is sought to get Minimum Age.
Eg. If you were applying for Std 7: (5 + 7 = 12). That is our preferred minimum age for Std 7)

  1. We will give preference to children in the correct age group. We will be a little flexible for senior classes, but not beyond 6 months.

  2. We will give weightage for children for achievements in extra-curricular activities.

  3. Weightage will be given to previous academic record (the report card)

  4. Weightage will be give to the admission test.

All children have to take the bus to school.

The bus routes are fixed and will not be changed.

Website for Admissions to Vidya Valley.

Feb 2010:

We sincerely regret that we are unable to accept any more applications fro classes Jr. KG to Std 2.

For Std 3 & above please follow the correct link from our home page

  • Admission to Jr KG and Std 1 are now closed. We completed all admissions in January. There are no more vacancies.
  • If there are any vacancy we will have to invite one of the students who applied for and appeared for admission tests in January. That is only fair.
  • We do not admit children in Sr. KG. because our own Jr KG go up to Sr. KG.
  • We will not have any vacancy in Std 2 because our existing Std 1 is full up and we are not expecting any withdrawals or transfers.
  • Please do not send any inquiries - we may not be able to respond due to pressure on time. There is no intention to be rude.
  • This website is still active for the purpose of disseminating information to prospective applicants - who may be interested for next year.

4th Jan., 2010,

This website is NOT operational anymore. You cannot submit any on-line application forms for Jr. KG or Std 1. This website was operational from 5th December 2009 to 4th January 2010.

You can still access the information on admissions and the school by clicking on the link below. Just for your information.

Vidya Valley - Admissions (Academic Year June 2010)

Admissions Std 3 to Std 9

Admissions  -  Std 3 to Std 9

Dear Parents,

As planned, this site for admissions from Std 3 to Std 9 is now live. The link at the end of this page will take you to the admissions site.

After the site was created we realised that we cannot accept applications for Std 2 because we have no vacancies.

1. The site is "live" in order to give you information as soon as possible and plan your actions. However, the "On-Line Application Form" is not yet live. We have scheduled it for 20th March.

2. The site contains two questionnaires:

  • One for ALL parents. It requires three to five pages of writing. And maybe one or two days effort.
  • The second relates to children living abroad. The questionnaire is for their TEACHERS. We need this because the students will not be appearing for the test at Vidya Valley but will take the test in their school. Therefore we will not be meeting these children while admitting them.

3. You can download the questionnaires and keep them ready even before the on-line application becomes available to you. This suggestion is more applicable to parents living abroad who may have a pressure for time.

4. The ON-LINE application form will be accessible to all from 20th March onwards.

5. After you fill the application form, you will receive a formatted copy of that form via e-mail. That will also contain the application number. That copy, with your signatures, the application fee, photographs and other documents are required to be submitted at the school - physically - by 12th April.

6. The admission test at school will be on 17th April. The admission tests abroad may be held a week earlier so that the results are available more or less together.

Regards
