Admissions to Vidya Valley

Academic Year 2009-10

Preamble

The entry points to Vidya Valley are Jr.KG and Std 1. All other classes (intermediate classes) do not have a fixed quota for admission. They will depend on vacancies created due to transfers.

However, this year we are increasing the number of sections in each grade by one. Therefore, Grade 1 to Grade 3 will have four sections. Grade 4 to Grade 10 will have three sections each.

However, we will admit only a limited number of children in each grade so that we can maintain the quality of our teaching.

Vacancies available for admission for the next academic year 2009-10

  1. There are NO admissions available for Jr. KG, or Std. 1. We completed admissions in January 2009 after adequate notification on our website. We will not be responding to any more e-mails for admissions to these classes.

  2. There are NO admissions available for Sr.KG. This is NOT an entry point for our school.

  3. There are a few seats for all classes from Std 2 to 9.

Procedure for Admissions for Std 2 to Std 9:

  1. Admission forms will be available at school from 23rd March onwards. Completed forms should be returned to us by 11th April. Cost of Form is Rs 700.

  2. Admission form includes a Questionnaire for parents. It is an important part of our evaluation.

  3. We will conduct an admission test on Sat., 18th April. The test will start at 9:00 a.m.

  4. All children will be tested in Math / Arithmetic and English (Comprehension and Creative writing). The syllabus for math will be that of the previous class. (If you are applying for admission to Std 4 then the child will be tested for Math as per Std 3 syllabus).

  6. Indian children applying for Std 5 and above will also be tested in Hindi.

  7. Children with a foreign passport will not be tested in Hindi.

In case your child has a specific issue on any of the above, please attach a brief note to the application form describing the problem and stating your request. We will e-mail our response to you.

Note for Admissions for Std 8 and Std 9:

In Std 8 & 9 we have two sections preparing for ICSE Exam and one section for NIOS exam. (Check the respective websites of the boards for information).

  1. Students may apply for either of the two boards.

Procedure for students who live abroad (and cannot be present for the Admission Test):

  1. Please send us a brief e-mail telling us about your stay abroad and plans for returning to India. We will mail you back the Application Form, Prospectus and Questionnaire and instructions.

  2. The student will need to take the admission test. However, we will e-mail the test paper to Principal / Concerned Teacher at your child’s school at the school’s e-mail address (and not a public service like gmail or yahoo). In order to do that we will need to receive a confirmatory e-mail from the teacher that she/he will administer the test as required during the week 13th to 17th April. This e-mail should be sent to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

  4. All documents must be deposited at the school through a friend or relative, along with the application fee. Do not send any documents to us by e-mail because it will clog our e-mail. We cannot accept responsibility for lost documents. Nor do we advise you to send directly by courier for the same reason.

Finalisation of Admission:

We expect to finalise the admission list by 24th of April. The list will be posted on our website. This is a provisional admission.

No admission is final till we receive the latest report card and Transfer Certificate.

Parents are expected to complete the admission procedure by Tuesday, 28th April. After that date we may offer the seat to the next student in the waiting list.

F A Q

What if I cannot appear for the test on 18th April?

A second Test will depend upon vacancies. If at all, it may be held in June.

If I live outside Pune in some distant city, can I get the application form by e-mail?

Yes. Write to us and we will e-mail it. However, we will not accept any applications by e-mail. You have to send it through a friend or relative who will submit it to the school along with the application fee.

However, we advice you to visit the school before your child appears for the test.

If I live outside Pune in some distant city, can I write the test at my school?

We expect you to do that in Vidya Valley in Pune.

What will be the criterion for acceptance?

  1. Age: Our age for admission at Std 1 is 6 years to 7 years (as on June 1, 2009).

(Quick Check: Add 5 years Plus the Class to which admission is sought to get Minimum Age.
Eg. If you were applying for Std 7: (5 + 7 = 12). That is our preferred minimum age for Std 7)

  1. We will give preference to children in the correct age group. We will be a little flexible for senior classes, but not beyond 6 months.

  2. We will give weightage for children for achievements in extra-curricular activities.

  3. Weightage will be given to previous academic record (the report card)

  4. Weightage will be give to the admission test.

All children have to take the bus to school.

The bus routes are fixed and will not be changed.
